A reminder that you can accomplish the impossible
Maybe you’re fantastic at finance. Perhaps you’ve come up with a new and brilliant idea. Whatever your genius zone, if you want to accomplish the impossible, you won’t get there with the wrong attitude.
In life, attitude is everything. Your approach to any situation, feedback or setback may very likely determine your level of success. Now, we’re not saying you’re a “negative Nancy,” but if you find yourself feeling down, it can be helpful to look at some ladies who’ve done the impossible and get inspiration from their attitudes.
So, no matter where you happen to be on your entrepreneurial journey, you can find some inspiration in the attitudes of these powerful women and see where it takes you in 2017.
Appreciate everyone
“Appreciation can change a day, even change a life. Your willingness to put it into words is all that is necessary.” — Margaret Cousins, Women’s Rights Activist
Being appreciative of others is an excellent life practice, and it is also a scientifically proven way to boost your own happiness.
Women rights activist Margaret Cousins quickly realized this along her journey, and you can do the same. You can begin with small tasks like getting coffee for your office or sending out “thank yous”.
And while it may not seem life changing, showing a bit of gratitude to people in your life and work will go a long way for you and for them.
Nothing is set in stone
“There is nothing like a concrete life plan to weigh you down. Because if you always have one eye on some future goal, you stop paying attention to the job at hand, miss opportunities that might arise, and stay fixedly on one path, even when a better, newer course might have opened up.” — Indra Nooyi, Pepsi Co. CEO
Indra Nooyi found her success at Pepsi Co. when she started to think outside the box. The Pepsi exec made a game-changing decision to remove aspartame from Diet Pepsi in an effort to make it healthier. When originally proposed, the plan was met with a lot of doubters. Today, it’s considered one of the best business decisions Pepsi has made in the last decade.
The lesson? Nothing successful is set in stone. While it’s great to have a plan so you know where you want to go, you can’t let it bog you down. If you’re unhappy with your job or feeling a little down, you should realize that there are always better opportunities ahead. All it might take is changing your path.
Embrace the impossible
“Nothing is impossible. The word itself says ‘I’m possible!'” –Audrey Hepburn, Actress, Humanitarian
Living a normal life in Europe during the Second World War must have seemed impossible every single day. But even in the face of adversity, a young Audrey Hepburn never stopped embracing impossibilities.
After fleeing to Holland with her family from the Nazis, Hepburn–like millions of others–nearly died of malnourishment when the Nazis cut off all food supplies. Audrey was fearless under the most adverse of conditions and she embraced the impossible even at a young age. Thanks to this attitude, she not only secretly aided The Resistance during the war, but went on to become a world-famous humanitarian, fashion icon, and actress.
When all the cards are (seemingly) turned against you, it’s very hard -almost… “impossible” — to feel grateful and happy. But, just like Hepburn, you should realize that anything is possible -just put your mind to it.
